You should take a look at the book Embedded Software Development with eCos
(which you can download online). It should give you a good starting point
to getting your development environment configured, building RedBoot and
eCos, and running code on a PC.
The eCos documentation is also very good. Here are some links:

Thanks for your advice but i meant to say that first use a simulator
to test the applicationa and then using real boards etc.
I want to ask one thing can i use my p3 as a target machine to test my
app for intel platform.
