ecos Redboot vmware porting

Hello, I would like to know how to run redboot on vmware...
After creating the redboot bin file I tried to run it using Virtual PC. but
it seems that network commands are not available....(such ping, or set ip_address)
I need to connect a pc host (running redboot) to another that sends applications
to this one for testing and development purpose...
I would like to know if I lost any packages on the road during configuration
file's compilation.....
