This only affects two other targets so I'm hoping that their maintainers
will be able to let me know if this is an issue for them.
I cannot shoot a hole in your reasoning, and I've just verified that
attaching still works on i386-unknown-gnu0.2 with this patch applied.
I don't think that any of the any of the Mach 3 targets are currently
maintained, but I don't expect any problems there. The fact that the
Hurd is also based on Mach 3 might give some confidence in these
matters.
So I think you can go ahead.
