Technically, Stallman would say that GDB is written for GNU systems,
and *all* non-GNU support is a distraction.  Iffy.  So I'm not sure
you really want to push that argument too hard.

But I agree, about the patch.

If we had safe_strerror try a macro which the nm-*.h file could
define, I'd feel better about the change.
