I remember to have had this problem too. It was related
to a bug in the TUI that crashed when the curses windows
are not yet created. It is fixed in gdb 5.3.
I verified on gdb 5.3 as well as gdb CVS mainline and it
does not crash any more.
(note: "info win" is only available when gdb is configured
with --enable-tui)
