This bug report is against gdb 5.1.1. The latest version is gdb 5.3, with the prerelease gdb 5.3.92 available too.
I'm going to go ahead and close this PR. I don't actually know if this specific problem is fixed in gdb 5.3, but there has been so much improvement in the thread code that it's not useful to look at very old PR's. If you still have a similar bug with gdb 5.3 or later, I would be happy to look at a new PR.
