Please try gdb 6.0.91, which is available here:
ftp://sources.redhat.com/pub/gdb/snapshots/branch/gdb-6.0.91.tar.gz
This was a problem with gdb 6.0, but it has been fixed in gdb 6.0.91.
If gdb 6.0.91 works for you, let me now. If it doesn't work, naturally, let me know! The tail of the build log and the config.cache, as you provided, are plenty of information.
