Bug #: 13722
Summary: lookup_global_symbol does not seem to work
Product: gdb
Version: 7.4
Status: NEW
Severity: normal
Priority: P2
Component: python
AssignedTo: unassigned@sourceware.org
ReportedBy: gabenbecca@gmail.com
Classification: Unclassified
When a corefile is generated and I attempt post-mortem debugging:
e.g. gdb ./foo foo.core.15180
info address works (e.g.):
(gdb) info address main
Symbol "main" is at 0x4145f0 in a file compiled without debugging.
but python api searching for the same symbol does not work:
(gdb) python print gdb.lookup_global_symbol("main")
None
other variations where I pass in different domains yeild the same results
(gdb) gdb.lookup_global_symbol("main",gdb.gdb.SYMBOL_FUNCTIONS_DOMAIN)
None
Not sure what information I can provide?
