I count about 10 refs in all, doesn't seem too hard to change.  Seeing
as how it's apparently unused and undocumented, another option would
be to delete it and solve the problem that way...

   Unless Stan (as head maintainer objects).  I'll rip out PARAMS for all
   these
   offending functions (making them all true ISO-C).

Please don't jump the gun!  We already have a plan for ISOness, let's
stick to it.
