Note the size of the diff; this snap includes both Elena's event
handling infrastructure and another big step in my breakup of
wait_for_inferior. Although all this new code did OK with a weekend
of automated testing at Cygnus, it has *not* been tested on all
configs yet - that's where you guys come in. :-) Any reports of new
problems will be much appreciated!
