Re: New sourceware TCL is okay in my testbed

The Tcl maintainers have not incorporated our changes in the past. I am maily talking about changes to make it Cygwin compatible.

Things have changed now in the Tcl world -- if someone has the time to try we may succceed now. The problem is to fing the time...

Fernando

Why do there need to be any differences in Tcl and Expect at all?
Those diffs should either be contributed to the Tcl maintainers or
possibly discarded.

Feel free. Download TCL 8.4.1, check out the sourceware "TCL" module, go
through the diffs, and send upstream patches to the TCL maintainers.
Anyone can do this. But I suspect that no one has time to do this.

More helpfully -- some of the diffs are changes to make TCL fit into our
"build in unified tree and test without installing" vision. Some of them
are noise from RCS key strings in files. And some of them are
Cygwin-specific changes that probably would be useful to push upstream.

As a tester, I report on what I see. I can't make the world perfect,
and I won't gloss over what I actually see even when it is flawed.
