Since you talk about expect bugs, I reported one to Red Hat
http://bugzilla.redhat.com/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=43310
It may exist on all versions of expect. It shows up in the gas
directory when I do "make check" in binutils for Linux/hppa.
Does your expect have the same bug?
