Problem using gdb

Hi,
I have a problem talking to the target board CSB337 (ARM 9TDMI based Atmel
microcontroller board with uMon montiro program) using xtools running on
Cygwin on Windows 2000. Heres what happens

$ arm-elf-gdb
GNU gdb 2003-09-17 cvs

This GDB was configured as "--host=i686-pc-cygwin --target=arm-elf".
(gdb) set remotebaud 9600
(gdb) target rdi com1
RDI_open: undefined error message, should reset target
RDI_open failed

I have tried with different baud rates, with different com ports and on
different machines.

What should I do to get this working?
Thanks.
