Subject: GDB & NPTL

Hi,
Can anyone refer me to a design-document or some other kind of paper
that describes the model of work of GDB with NPTL ? I would like to
get some idea of how does GDB recognize new threads, how it attaches
to them, etc. Is there any such paper that talks about these things ?
