Using a test example from the gcc guys (which I'm attaching), locales work. But
from c++ code, locales do not work. I DO have locales installed (localedef
--list-archive gives me a long list of locales, which includes en_US), just so
we're clear on that. LC_ALL is set to en_US when I run the c++ example I
provided. I hope this helps you guys.
