Ummm. I wrote the manual in 1991 and haven't been active in maintaining
it since that time. Even if I remembered what I was thinking 20+ years
ago, this section of text was added by someone else at some later date. ;-)
I suspect this sentence ought to read
The System V Unix standard provides one more set of functions....
