In <http://sourceware.org/ml/libc-alpha/2012-02/msg00245.html>, Roland
suggested building the crt* files as crt[in].os, so that appropriate PIC
options are passed automatically. This would mean various architectures no
longer need architecture-specific settings of variables such as CPPFLAGS-crti.S
to get the assembler to build PIC object files.
