DHARMI sounds like a viable and worth-while project for you.

for guile, you may want to look at the "root" project and interface
guile to the C++ interpreter (since the folks doing "root" seem to be
a little ahead of you).  see a recent linux journal or grep freshmeat
for more info.

you might also want to look at SAL to see what tools already exist and
how they can benefit (perhaps through some kind of unification) by
extension using guile.

regardless, niftiness is appreciated (at least by me).
