If you run majordomo, the posts aren't trashed -- they are bounced to the moderator, who can choose to forward them on. On the closed lists I run, if a non-subscriber post is on topic, I just hit the "z" key in my emacs (I have it bound in mh-e to mean "run this message through "approve") and the message magically goes to the list, pre-approved.
