A coupla comments. . .
1) In my experience, the current source code in cvs is *far* easier
(thanks to Greg Badros) to understand than the released source in
1.3.4. In other words, if you're gonna read code, it is much easier
now than it has ever been.
Personally, I think this alone would've been a good reason for 1.3.6.
2) Following the suggestion of someone on this list or c.l.s, I
checked out GNU robots.
I think it would be worthwhile to include this program as an example
delivered with the guile source. It wouldn't answer all the issues
you've brought up, but it would answer a good number of introductory
questions. This way the amount of reading can be limited to detailed
issues (32 v. 30 bit integers).
