Wow, I don't even know where to start with this. I don't have access to an OS X machine at all. I didn't even know that our version on Tk (8.4.1) worked on OSX! (But I do see OSX sources in the source dir...)
Can you describe in more detail what you mean by "term program quits"? You run "avr-insight" from the terminal and it simply exits? It crashes? Can you run avr-insight in gdb and set a break on "exit" and get a backtrace?
