Building on 2 different Linux systems, both running gcc 2.95.2, glibc
2.1.3pre3 and bash 2.04beta5 - I get the following message repeated at
frequent intervals during the make.
/bin/sh: invalid character 45 in exportstr for full-config-sysdirs
