signaling and quite NaN on Linux/Alpha

I see that I can use the functions nan(const char *),
nanf(const char *) and nanl(const char *) to return
"a representation of NaN" according to Glibc Manual
p. 509, but how can I get a signaling NaN or quiet
NaN on Linux/Alpha?

Thanks,

Bharadwaj
