I downloaded sysdeps/wordsize-32/divdi3.c and sysdeps/i386/Makefile,
modified divdi3.c (commented out the line that says "INTDEF(__divdi3)"),
and recompiled glibc-2.2.5 (original release). That worked.
I hope this is ok. mozilla and vmware are working fine now.
