People seem to use the term 'bloat' when they really mean 'I don't
understand why these features are important'. What features don't
you care about? Internationalisation? Standards compliance? Threading?
Cross-platform support?
drepper et al's posts are quite clear why even simple programs that
contain printf have so much code associated with them - If your programs
are never intended to work on a variety of systems, chances are glibc
is not a good choice for you.
