The libc-alpha mailing list isn't very
sympathetic to build problems, especially for
released versions, partly because lots of people
who think they should build glibc really shouldn't.
Say, why do *you* want to rebuild glibc?
For what it's worth, though, I can build glibc-2.3.4
fine with gcc-3.4.3 on most platforms -- but
the script to build it is a bit interesting:

I build glibc with a cut-down version of gcc
which doesn't have thread support, I think.
Maybe that's part of why it works for me and not for you.
