As part of learning to be a better contributor, I ran the localedef
check before submitting and will do so on future submissions.
Just FYI,
ayc_PE (and a soon to be submitted quz_PE locale) will be critical to
the deployment of Aymara and Quechua translations of the Sugar UI on
the nearly one million XO laptops in Peru. Great progress has been
made on the Sugar UI and further translation continues. There are not
only millions of speakers of these languages, there are also high
levels of monolingual speakers.
niu_NU (and niu_NZ) were developed with the support of an Internet
Society grant to RockET Systems Niue as part of a language
preservation effort. Sugar Labs is providing gratis support (hosting,
etc.) for this work.

The creation of the niu_NZ locale reflects the reality that there is a
significant diaspora of Niuean speakers in New Zealand.
