Agreed.


Even if I agreed that the ChangeLog file was useless I'd still want
to require the same level of structured change documentation for
a project of this type. So why change one for the other? Let us stay
with detailed ChangeLogs.
Any thoughts on keeping the ChangeLog formatting, but just putting it in the commit message and generating the ChangeLog from commit messages?

Other projects have already made that switch and it makes a hell of a lot of sense to me.
