Even 4.4 doesn't work on 32bit, the math test suite always throws
a bazillion errors. Only 4.6+ works for i386, at least if you
want to pass the math test suite. I found that simple installations
of 4.6, that just work for everything, else also fail because
some obscure unwind interface is requested by configure.
