That is nothing new. You just cannot create a binary with the new
compiler/library and expect it will run on an older installation.
The other way around should work. That is why our build machine
is the original RedHat 5.2 even though I have upgraded the rest of
RedHat machines of mine. If you want to build a binary which will
run on the older systems, you have to keep an older system as the
build machine.
