Set the TEXINPUTS environment variable to include the path to the sgml-tools
styles.
TEXINPUTS=:/usr/lib/sgml-tools export TEXINPUTS
works under bash for RedHat. You'll need to change it if you're using
c-shell or (maybe) some other platform.
To figure out what path to put in there try:
locate null.sty
Then latex somefile.tex should work better.
