I am using the Tcl/Tk interface on X11. Are you using the Xt/Xaw interface?

IIRC, xv had a time-delayed screen capture option (so a user could get shots of
selected menu items, etc...). That would give you time to move a unit and then
tell the wayward emblems to say cheese.
