Re: Three thoughts

Although I think people should certainly be encouraged to experiment,
and maybe if I tried the Mac interface I'd change my mind, but I do
want to register non-enthusiasm for closeup dialogs.

Sure, you can come up with a way to show what is in a cell which is
deeply nested. But is it visually appealing? Does it mean you are
always having to click or hit a key to expand/unexpand a unit? Do you
have to go up and town the tree of occupancy just to find what you
want to know?

If the solution isn't a fancy "occupants navigator", then perhaps the
solution is just change the game designs to reduce the problem. For
example, one reason that the standard game only allows 16 units in one
cell is to make them easy to draw and see. The standard game is
lacking any such mitigation for the "infantry in a bomber in a carrier
in a town" problem, however. I wonder what it would do to playability
if a town/city could only hold 8 units?
