C'mon, Dimitre, it's not a problem with the quotes :-)
Isn't what Zack needs to do is us an xsl:attribute statement like this?
<xsl:template match="a">
<a>
<xsl:attribute name="href"><xsl:value-of
select="@href"/></xsl:attribute>
</a>
</xsl:template>
