but also note that (in general) it may select any number of
nodes.
If for example the name attribute is known to be of type ID (so that
its values are distinct in the document) then you can generate the xpath
id('{@name}') (using AVT syntax) ie, in this case
id('jim')
or if you haven't a DTD
//*[@name='jim']
but all these require more information about the input document type
(that you haven't revealed).
