This isn't an xsl problem.
Try <table cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" border="0">
or don't put it in another table.
<table>
<thead>
<tr><td>heading1</td><td>heading1</td></tr>
</thead>
<tbody>
<% jsp which calls a method to process the xml and my.xsl
and then to print out the html produced (intermediate table) in this area
(out.print(html))
%>
</tbody>
</table>
<template name=org">
<tr>
output some cells here
</tr>
</template>
<xsl:template match="/">
<xsl:call-template name="org"/>
</xsl:template>
