Said it before, but about a year ago so:

IMO this is probably the best list on the Net (high and instantly
helpful expertise PLUS huge tolerance of FAQs, OT's and garbage)

If a q really is on XSLT people answer it at whatever length and in
whatever detail is necessary.

If its not an XSLT issue (and it so happens that neither ot your recent
problems were, really), people still tend to answer if they can do so
briefly. But your underlying problems (white space in html and basic
encoding questions) are not XSLT specific and can't be dealt with
briefly. So what you got were a few pointers in the hope you could
follow them up elsewhere.

Apologies to all grannies trying to reduce their egg consumption.
