non-existing file in document() function

Hi !
I am trying to use the document function in my XSLT
****************
document("authors.xml")
****************
If the document "authors.xml" does not exist, I get an error from
msxml3.dll saying
"The system cannot find the path specified".
Is there a way, to ignore, the situation if the file does not exist ?
