yes it is possible to embed javascript
simplest example using alert is as follows

<xsl:stylesheet version="1.0"
xmlns:xsl="http://www.w3.org/1999/XSL/Transform">
<xsl:template match="/">
<!-- you java script coding will start here -->
<xsl:text disable-output-escaping="yes">
