the script is just a block of text as far as xsl is concerned,
it doesn't need to know it's javascript. So as in any other text blocaks
you can use
<xsl:value-of select="$x"/>
or at least you could do if you removed the <![CDATA section. Unless your
script has < or & in it the CDATA isn't doing anything anyway. If you do
have a lot of < and you don't want to write them as < then you can do
<![CDATA[....
script = "]]><xsl:value-of select="$x"/><![CDATA[
...]]>
</script>
