I really appreciate people who take the time to reduce examples to a
bare minimum case! And so often, when I do that myself, I find the
answer is staring me in the face and I don't have to ask the question.
There is a quote (often misattributed to Einstein)
Make things as simple as possible, but no simpler.
When you think about it, that can be a very fine line indeed. A quick
sanity check is to drop your sample into a web browser and see if it can
parse the XML. Something I think I don't need to do from time to time,
much to my own chagrin.
