RE: selecting an element in an external doc using its id attribute


The id() function works within the document containing the context node.
The expression you have used is legal in XPath 2.0, but not in 1.0. In
1.0, you have to use xsl:for-each to change the context node, and then
use the id() function - you can't use a function call on the rhs of the
"/" operator.
