i want to use variables for border and color
like
<xsl:variable name="border" select="0pt"/>
You probably need select="'0pt'"/> to make it a string type.
<xsl:variable name="bordercolor" select="#CCCCCC"/>
Same here select="'#CCCCCC'"/>
but the following does not work, why?
<fo:table-cell number-rows-spanned="2" font-size="10pt" text-align="start"
color="black" padding="2pt" border="$border solid $bordercolor">
You need to use attribute value templates:
border="{$border} solid {$bordercolor}"
In attribute content of a literal result element in a stylesheet, the brace
bracket pair is interpreted as "xsl:value-of".
I hope this helps.
