Try:

<xsl:template match="FruitList">
  <xsl:value-of select="fruit[price = 1]/name" /> is only $1.00.
</xsl:template>

When you compare a node to a number, the node's value gets converted
to a number and the two numbers are compared. So it doesn't matter if
the element's value is "1" or "1.0" or "1.00" or "01", it will still
equal the number 1.

The xsl:value-of instruction will give you the value of the first of
the nodes that the expression:

  fruit[price = 1]/name

selects, so you'll get "Orange" in this example.
