The contrib windowmaker is incompatible with the libz and libpng in
newer cygwins, the standard answer in this mailinglist is to compile
your own windowmaker.

| I am running Cygwin in a Win2K SP1 Portuguese machine. I installed XFree86
| 4.0.3 (precompiled) and it runs fine. I also downloaded from 'contrib' the
| Window Maker package and installed it (precompiled). First it didn't run
| because 'libz.dll' was missing. I just renamed cygz.dll and tried again. Now
| it didn't run because it couldn't finf the entry point for pnp_init_io in
| libpng.dll. So, I downloaded the source code and recompiled. Compilation was
| smooth, but it says it cannot open the display. I tried running
| "wmaker -display 127.0.0.1:0" from bash when it happened. Am I forgetting
