Hmm I'm don't share the opposition to =carefully= operating on /etc/profile. Even if we
get Mr. Faylor to sign off on it now for a near-future Cygwin 1.3.x, there will be plenty
of people using older profiles that are going to need them updated. I think we'll need
this technology :)
