Hello
I would like to use Cygwin anx Xfree86 to acesss my Linux computer, and
using then on my second computer running windows.
The step-by-step instruction is great for the cygwin and xfree86 install,
but after the install step I don't found too much information on how to
configure Xfre86 and also to connect to a remote linux on the same
step-by-step way.
I follow all installation procedures step by step, of cgiwin and apparently
cygwin is running well ( I don't know exactly how to test, but all b2zip and
tar command to opens Xfrre86 works as prewied).
After that I try to run startxwin , and the system tell-me that a
cygwin1.dll cannot be found, I put a dos patch to the directory where this
dll are , and the message does not occur any more.
After that I try again to start the startxwin but nothing happen.
After that I try to change startxwin for the following
@echo off
SET DISPLAY=127.0.0.1:0.0
SET PATH=%PATH%;\usr\X11R6\bin;\cygwin\bin;\cygwin\usr\bin
start XWin -screen 0 800x600x32
start /B twm
At this time a graphic screen similar to when xfre86 is initialing appear on
my windows
And another window called xwin appear with the following message
winDetectSupportedEngines () - Windows 95/98/Me
winDetectSupportedEngines () - DirectDraw installed
winDetectSupportedEngines () - DirectDraw4 installed
winDetectSupportedEngines () - Returning, supported engines 00000007
winSetEngine () - Using Shadow DirectDraw NonLocking
winCreateBoundingWindowWindowed () - WindowClient width 800 height 600
winInitVisualsShadowDDNL () - Masks 00ff0000 0000ff00 000000ff RGB 8 d 32
winInitVisualsShadowDDNL () - Returning
error opening security policy file /usr/X11R6/lib/X11/xserver/SecurityPolicy
Could not init font path element /usr/X11R6/lib/X11/fonts/CID/, removing
from list
My question is, what am I doing wrong?
How can I know that my xfree86 installation is running, have any test
program ?
I need to do some thing on the Linux Machine to have access to her Xterminal
via my window computer?
Thanks in advance
Saci
