#! /bin/sh ANT_HOME="/cygdrive/c/apache-ant-1.6.5/bin/.." ANT_HOME=`cd "$ANT_HOME" && pwd` [...] If I change the first line to: #! /bin/bash it surprisingly works with both snapshots.
Does the 'bin' subdirectory exist?
$ ll /cygdrive/c/apache-ant-1.6.5/ | grep bin drwxrwxrwx+ 2 Administratoren none 0 Jul 4 01:07 bin/
If not then you're probably running into an aspect of <http://cygwin.com/ml/cygwin/2005-08/msg01097.html>.
Perhaps a better way to do this would be:
ANT_HOME=`readlink -m "$ANT_HOME"`
Indeed, but that's not my call. I found this problem when trying to build OpenPffice.org with the newest cygwin snapshot. The failing snippet is from apache-ant-1.6.5/bin/ant and triggered by a configure check that tests if ant exists.
