Re: "Error opening terminal"


Sorry, I guess I mean to point out that when I download the binaries of programs that use ncurses from the setup.exe program, I get the error "Error opening terminal: cygwin." Programs for example that I get this for.

$ cygcheck -c ctris lynx ninvaders
Cygwin Package Information
Package              Version        Status
ctris                0.42-1             OK
lynx                 2.8.5-4            OK
ncurses              5.7-5              OK
ninvaders            0.1.1-1            OK
terminfo             5.7_20090228-1     OK

When I use the cygwin terminal I get the error (TERM=cygwin) but when I use like rxvt (TERM=xterm) then it works. Also, if I compile the sources myself then the programs work in the cygwin terminal. Does it have something to do with TERMINFO?

That would, again, fall into the category of your not supplying enough
