1.7.1: problems installing GD-2.44

Hi there,

i would appreciate some help with my gd installation ...

running cygwin 1.7.1 on winxp prof sp3. The cygwin gd package is of 
version 2.0.36RC1-10. Trying to install the perl gd package - doesn't 
work. I attach the console log at the end.

I am not sure, if this is a cygwin problem - so if there is a better place 
to ask, please give me a short hint.

Some questions: 

- do i perhaps need to install gcc for this?

- concerning the warning:

    ** WARNING: found gd.h header file in 
    /usr/include/gcc/i686-pc-cygwin/3.4.4/../.
    ./..gd.h, but it is expected at /usr/include/gd.h. This may cause 
    compile errors

  there is no /usr/include/gcc directory ... why this error? Does the 
  software check any archives - I didn't check any zip- or bz2-archives,
  if there might be such a directory ...

- what about the failed test - does it matter? How can I see, which
  test failed? And if it doesn't matter, how can I force running make
  install?
